Jamie T - If I were A Boy - BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge

/ 27.9.09 /

What I like about the BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge is that you wouldn't expect
what the band's would cover. Just like this cover of Beyonce's If I were a Boy done by Jamie T. It made me appreciate the song.

DISCOVER: Lust for Life by Girls

Girl's debut Album (which is the name of the CD) received a 9.1 rating by Pitchfork. I listened to some of the tracks in their album and I found myself a soundtrack for the upcoming summer. Check out this track and watch the DIY-ish music video.

DISCOVER: God Help the Girl

/ 20.9.09 /

I missed twee-pop! God Help the Girl is a side project of Stuart Murdoch of Belle and Sebastian fame. Come Monday Night is a song that you would wanna hear on a lazy Sunday savoring its simple arrangement, melodic tune and breezy vocals of Catherine Ireton and Celia Garcia. Haaay....

Discover: Little Dragon

/ /

Another Swedish delight, Little Dragon mixes soul, smooth jazz and electro beats that compliments gorgeous vocals from Yukimi Nagano. Watch the video and check out the two freaky dancers dressed in big black shirts with a predator-like masks.

VIDEO: Without You by Empire of the Sun

/ /

Empire of the Sun is back with Without You, their fourth single from their debut album Walking on a Dream.Check out the vidoe for this song that features frontman Luke Steele channeling David Bowie. They remixed the song with more beats and up-tempo melody which is different from the more mellow version on the album but still it has the 80's feel. I wonder why Nick Littlemore was not in the video.

Agyness Deyn Goes Brunette

I don't know about you but I am liking Agyness Deyn's new do. This is not the first time this blond model dyed her hair. But whatever color she has, she can rock it anyway.

To Kingdom Come by Passion Pit

/ 7.9.09 /

To Kingdom Come is Passion Pit’s most emotional track from their CD Manners. But instead of getting your guyliner smudged, you’d probably hurt your neck from bopping your head too much with its synth-dance sensibilities. Michael Angelakos’s voice, however, is irritatingly high but it gives justice to the song’s emotional collapse. This song managed to bring sunshine to the rainy night I was writing this post.

BTW, it’s on loop a million times. Me love it! kkkk Here's the vid.

Mew Album

/ 4.9.09 /
No More Stories/Are Told Today/I'm Sorry/They Washed Away//No More Stories/The World Is Grey/I'm Tired/Let's Wash Away is the new album of the Danish rock band, Mew and you couldn't expect less with that long title. Yes, that is the title of the album. Known to their progressive sound and dreamy melody, this album is happier and more upbeat according to vocalist Jonas Bjerre.
The first single off of No More Stories... is "Introducing Palace Players" which I have been playing in my iPod over and over again. Its long intro builds up a sense of urgency of what to expect for the rest of the song- a beautiful track with an epic feel that eventually subsides into something more minimal.

The interesting video of "Introducing Palace Players" is directed by Martin de Thurah, Adam Hashemi and Lasse Martinussen. Check it out.

Video: Learn to Lose by Hockey

/ 2.9.09 /

Hockey is on my list of the best bands of 2009. From Portland, Oregon, Hockey is ready to conquer the world with their infectious melodies that will make you dance from start to finish. Particularly this song, Learn to Lose, that has the vibes of The Strokes and The Virgins. Learn to Lose is their second single from their debut album Mind Chaos.
