Good day, world! I've been streaming the new album of The Drums Portamento since waking up this morning and I think it's one of the best albums I've heard so far this year. I enjoyed their self-titled debut but Portamento is a different experience. Head to 3voor12 to stream the tracks! And while you're on this page, you might want to watch the music video of Money, the carrier track of Portamento.

Jameson Ivlake? Blakeivler? James Bon? Whatever names you call this bromance, it's still a match made in heaven. Don't get me wrong, James Blake and Bon Iver are not gays (or at least that's what we know) it's just that Fall Creek Boys Choir is a perfect collaboration piece. Walang sapawan, the arrangements are not forced and their musical styles are well-weaved to each other. Let's enjoy Fall Creek Boys Choir and hope we get to hear more collabs from this supercouple in the future.
Fall Creek Boys Choir will be available on iTunes August 29.
I Can Almost Hear Their Heartbeats! TAHITI 80 LIVE IN MANILA!!
Few weeks ago, I read Toti Dalmacion's (@ternoman) tweet that says:
And they've been posting videos of Tahiti 80 on their Tumblr and thought it's just Tahiti 80 appreciation month or some sort. Little did I know, Terno Recording is bringing Tahiti 80 here in Manila to perform at their 10th year anniversary! WAAAAH *running like a stupid headless chicken*
I never felt this excitement since Club 8 Manila Tour and now THIS again! Tahiti 80 is one of the bands that I really want to watch live and I never thought they'd grace our humble country :)
Terno Recording's 10th Year anniversary celebration will be on October 21 at The Tent, 6f ALPHALAND SOUTHGATE (the blue glassed-mall in Magallanes) Pasong Tamo Extension corner EDSA featuring Tahiti 80 with Up dharma Down and Radio Active Sago Project.
If you're not familiar with Tahiti 80, here's one of my favorite songs from the band
and if you want more, I made a playlist of their songs below for your listening pleyszure!
See you there!
MUST LISTEN: Allure by Elephant
There's nothing like waking up to a great new music. This morning, it's courtesy of the London-based duo Elephant. I'm not sure what the vocals, Amelia Rivas, is singing about but her voice and the melody are disarming. Allure is part of Elephant's 7" Allure/Actors which was released earlier this month. And if youre interested in hearing more of their music, you can go to their Bandcamp and download their awesome music.

Sleep Over
We've been hearing a lot of chillwave bands lately and it's one of the genres that I really enjoy listening to as of the moment. When I was starting to discover the whole "indie" music scene back in high school, I was first exposed to the shoegaze/dream-pop sub-genre and I instantly fell in love with it. I was addicted to Cocteau Twins, My Bloody Valentine, The Stone Roses, Dead Can Dance and Trembling Blue Stars. My point is, probably because of the shoegaze influence this whole chillwave movement has that's why it's a delight to discover new bands with such sound. Sleep ∞ Over, on the other hand, is influenced by the music of the aforementioned bands and I am beyond ecstatic listening to their new track Romantic Streams. What sets Sleep ∞ Over apart from the bands under the same category (aside from their weirdly placed symbol in their name) is the raw emotion behind the soft, synth-coated, dreamy sound. Their debut LP Forever will be out on the 27 of September so check their website for more deets!
MUST WATCH: Roman by Housse De Racket
I really dont know if this is a trademark French music but Housse De Racket really sounds like Taihiti 80 and Phoenix. Not that I am complaining, it's just that it's... it's SO GOOD! Pardon my French but these garçons beaux are j'adore! They are back with a new album this year called Alesia and the first single out of it is Roman which is, by far, their most accessible song to date. It has the right amount of indie disco vibe and catchy synth number that will stuck in your brain for days.
You've heard them sing, now hear them talk. I was literally swooning over their accent. I just love hearing french people talk. Here's an interview from www.imetrages.com
Alesia is released today under Kitsuné

WELCOME TO THE MILLENNIUM! Marina and The Diamonds' new single Radioactive could pass as a anthem in one of the street parties in Malate circa 2000 with all its trance sensibilities. Ive never heard Marina this disco before. Her second album Electra Heart will be out soon and i dont know when. But so far, I'm liking her new vibe.
ALBUM STREAM: In The Grace Of Your Love by The Rapture
Wow! with that band name and album title, i wouldnt be surprised if they got a 100% rating on Preachfork.com or Jesusfreak.com. Yes, The Rapture is going to happen next month and it's in the form of an awesome new album. Stream the entirety of the Rapture's glorious new LP In The Grace Of Your Love below and you will believe that the prophecy is true after all.
MUST WATCH: Holocene by Bon Iver
If Iceland used this as their tourism ad, I swear people would book a plane ticket after watching it. I've never seen Iceland this beautiful! No wonder National Geographic premiered Bon Iver's Holocene music video on the channel.
Gold Panda Tours the Philippines!
THIS JUST IN! UK-based electronic musician Gold Panda will be here in the Philippines for some gigs and then some! He will be at Jungle Bar, Boracay on the 14th of September and on B-side, Collective on the 16th! EXCITING!
Gold Panda's music is an eclectic mix of lo-fi electronica, psychedelic hooks, vocal samples, hip-hop beats and everything in between that can be incorporated in a song. He released his first LP Lucky Shiner last year which includes this awesome track Quitters Raga.
But my fave track from Gold Panda is You which is part of my MUST LISTEN tracks of 2010.
He also remixed tracks from Little Boots, Bloc Party, Simian Mobile Disco and Lykke Li which you can stream below.
This event is presented by Shaman Soundsystem, B- Side and The Lazy Dog. For more info about the gigs, click here.

I was checking out some missed emails earlier this morning and I found a lot of music suggestions coming from Thailand. Been planning to do a post about the indie scene here in Southeast Asian region and i might start of with Thai indie bands. (image via here)
La-Ong Fong
I am a big fan of "indie-pop", twee, 60's style of music. So when I stumbled upon La-Ong Fong's music, it was love at first sight (hear). They just released their fourth studio album Wind-Up City in Thailand and critics say it's the band's most pop album. So, if you're into The Cardigans, Club 8, Acid House Kings and all these Swedish indiepop acts, then you will love La-Ong Fong long time! Plus, I love their mod-style fashion. Here are their latest music videos from the Wind-Up City album...
Coconut Cream
You cant get any Thai than that name! What I like about the music Coconut Cream is it creates a story in your head without even understanding what their singing about. Most of the songs in their 14-track album Yellow are guitar instrumentals which can lull you into sleep. This is the kind of music you wanna listen too if you want to do nothing and just stare blankly to anything. Try closing your eye while listeing to the songs below and you'll get what i mean.
Hummingbert
Another amazing Thai act here is Hummingbert. Acoustic/Electroacoustic/Experimental are some of the adjectives that people describe Hummingbert's music. Complicated as it may sound but Ekkachai Klomcharoen (Hummingber's real name) prefers it to be just simple and melodic. If youre gonna ask me, all i would say is he makes beautiful music that i can listen to everyday.
DOT
Speaking of complicated mix of genre, DOT here wants it that way. Their music is a fusion of indie rock, alternative and electronica. Influenced by The White Stripes, The Kills, Air and Beck, you can see that DOT don't want to play it safe. I have yet to hear more from this duo but so far, i am liking it.
Sugar Free by DOT
BAND CRUSH: Arigato, Hato
I havent seen these guys perform live but i heard a lot of good things about em. Arigato, Hato (they are a Filipino band btw) plays a sweet brand of indie-pop with a lil shoegaze and electro elements. In short, my kind of music. I havent been going out to watch gigs that much lately and I think im missing a lot of awesome local indie bands. Shame on me! Anyhu, here are some sample tracks from Arigato, Hato that I'm hoping to watch soon. ;)
the fish song by Arigato, Hato!
MUST LISTEN: Last Friday Night (Katy Perry Cover) by Beacon
Brooklyn-based electro duo, Beacon, did a cover of Katy Perry's Last Friday Night which kinda sound like jj. Still, it's an interesting find. You may wanna check the band's EP via their Bandcamp.
Ako, sila'y nandito na. VOTE mo nalang ang kulang!! ;)
Hey guys, one of my favorite bands, Up dharma Down, is nominated at Globe's Tatt Awards in their Indie Rocker category!! WHOOHOOO!
The Indie Rocker category is...
And why should you vote for Up dharma Down? Only because they are the most awesome Filipino band and one of the best in the world, that's why! haha!
TO VOTE, go to the official website of Tatt Awards and the rest is there. :)
Here's their new song, Indak from their upcoming third album! This one's recorded from the Tower Sessions.
...I spend 'em runnin' 'round lookin' for you, baby
This shouldnt dampen my morning but it's way too good to ignore.

NEW MUSIC: Virus by Björk
Like a virus needs a body
As soft tissue feeds on blood
Some day I’ll find you, the urge is here
Like a mushroom on a tree trunk
As the protein transmutates
I knock on your skin, and I am in
The perfect match, you and me
I adapt, contagious
You open up, say welcome
Like a flame that seeks explosives
As gunpowder needs a war
I feast inside you, my host is you
The perfect match, you and I
You fail to resist
My crystalline charm, you do
Like a virus, patient hunter
I’m waiting for you, I’m starving for you
My sweet adversary
My sweet adversary
My sweet adversary

WOW! Getting the chills while listening to this song. It's a Hyperballad in the making. A new Bjork classic. WOW. Just. WOW.

Puppy love, that's the theme of my weekend. Well, at least the movies that I watched. I re-watched the Thai film The Love of Siam and this British film called Submarine. The Love of Siam (starring Mario Maurer *girly scream*) is definitely a classic one. I love how they present the "gay" plot without being too "vulgar".
Submarine, on the other hand is a different story...literally.
I dont know if i liked the story but I love the way it was told. It's visually appealing to me coz I love grainy films.
Craig Roberts who plays the main guy, Oliver Tate, shines in this film. He's smart, funny and very effective in delivering awkward witty lines. He reminds me of a younger version of James Mcavoy.
Oliver's love interest, Jordana, is another interesting character in the film.
Plus the soundtrack was just amazing. Arctic Monkey's Alex Turner curated the music for the film and did a fantastic job.
So, there. If you want a kilig-warm&fuzzzy kind of film, I suggest you watch The Love of Siam. If you want something different, Submarine is for sure a must watch. Enjoy the rest of the weekend guys!

Since I missed a lot of awesome releases during my "hiatus", I just compiled some of them in this mixtape which you're about to download after this intro. These are some of the best new tracks from the past two weeks and I swear, guys, these are all MUST LISTENS!
(cover art via here)
MUST WATCH: Our Deal by Best Coast
Haaayyy! Teen lovers. If we could only be young forever. I dont have much patience in naming all the tween stars in this music video for Best Coast's Our Deal but Drew Barrymore knows what teenage dream really is.
MUST LISTEN: Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall (Coldplay cover) by Robyn
Chris Martin should've given this track to Robyn instead coz she sang it better than him. Well call me biased but really, this version of Every Teardrop is a Waterfall is way better than Coldplay's. What do you think?
MUST LISTEN: Fallout by Neon Indian
AHH!! I've missed out a lot of good releases these past weeks thanks to my Internet provider for delaying everything! And now im connected to the world wide web again, Im gonna turbo blog no matter what! :) One of my fave new releases is from Neon Indian. The lo-fi king's new track, Fallout, didnt leave the psychedelia of Psychic Chasms but this time it's darker and heavier. It's part of his sophomore album Era Extraña which is out on the 13th of September. Alan Palomo, it's you already!!
MUST WATCH: Indak (Tower Sessions) by Up dharma Down
I am ending my blogging hiatus with this amazing live performance of Up dharma Down's new song Indak recorded for Tower of Doom's Tower Sessions. I posted a not-so high-quality gig performance of the track few months back. And this time, we can listen to it's sorta final arrangement in this video. If you loved Bipolar's Sana, then Indak is definitely your tune. They did another live performance of this track on the podcast of SND.FM and you can watch it here.
