MUST LISTEN: One I know by Slow Down Honey

/ 29.10.11 /
Everyone seems out tonight partying for Hallowe'en except me! Hahaha I really dont mind staying home as long as Internet is up and running. And for those of you who are staying in, check out this track from an Australian band Slow Down Honey. One of my Aussie friends sent this to me earlier and told me that I'd definitely put this on my blog as soon as I heard it. He knows me too well. One I Know has that dancey, indie-pop groove with funky disco hook that's very addicting. Kinda reminds me of Phoenix and Jamiroquai. I'd probably play this the whole night, wear something scary and make my own Hallowe'en party inside me room! YEAH!

4AD Sessions: St Vincent

/ /

St. Vincent's Strange Mercy is one of my favorite albums this year and this 4AD session made me love even her more! Annie Clark is such a genius she can be the Marie Curie of music world. I dunno what's the relevance of that but you know what I mean...I guess ;) Anyway, just watch her video below

Tracklist:
Chloe In The Afternoon
Surgeon
Strange Mercy
Year Of The Tiger

BAND CRUSH: Tennis

/ 27.10.11 /
I may love listening to Rafael Nadal's grunts while he backhands his ball but it doesn't have enough smash to match with Tennis' ace sound. I'm talking about this husband-wife duo from Denver, Colorado who took a 7 month sailing trip and ended up making an album inspired by it. Whatever happened to that nautical exploration? We dont know exactly but listening to their debut album Cape Dory (which you can stream here) made me wish I was with them during that trip. Their music is a mix of early 60's girl group doo-wop songs, indie-pop, surf rock and sun shiny shimmering splendid. Think of Shangri Las doing an orgy The Beach Boys, Cults and Mazzy Star. Oh yeahsss!! You can play Tennis below...

You can also download this cover of Brenda Lee's Is It True.

MUST LISTEN: When I Was Young by Nada Surf

/ 25.10.11 /
Check out this new music by the band from Brooklyn- Nada Surf. When I Was Young will be part of Nada Surf's 2012 album The Stars are Indifferent to Astronomy.

NEW MUSIC: Common Burn by Mazzy Star

/ /
Mazzy Star picks up right where they left off 15 years ago and releases new materials that will not disappoint any fans alike. Common Burn has their signature lazy, desert rock sound just the way I like it. Listening to this songs feels like the first time I heard Mazzy Star. I remember looping my burned CD of She Hangs Brightly in my dark room and pretending I was the most depressed senior high. *flash back* The single will be released on October 31 including the b-side track Lay Myself Down which you can also stream below ;)

BAND CRUSH: Some Gorgeous Accident

/ 19.10.11 /
The only time i open my Facebook is when I post a link of a blogpost or to check if there are interesting music related posts in my timeline. Thank God I opened my Facebook today! If not, i would have not discovered this amazing band. Serendipity? Maybe Some Gorgeous Accident! Ok, so that's another failed attempt for a witty intro! haha

Check out this California-based Filipino band called Some Gorgeous Accident. They play gorgeous shoegaze/dream-pop music that reminds me of The Autocollants and Blueboy. The band's first release was cassette EP entitled Winter in Watercolor under the Italian label Best Kept Secret (in all fairness, they hid them well ah.)

Now they are back with Imaginary Lines- a 6-track EP under the local label Number Line Records. With this new EP, the band maximized their shoegaze prowess and experimented with some electronic elements which gave it a bit more "now" sound. You can hear the entire EP below and also a free download link!
