I tend to abuse the repeat button on my iTunes every time I discover awesome tracks. And when I say abuse I mean total exploitation! I could be in death penalty if song abuse is a crime. Anyway, here are the "abused" ones and hope you like em too :p

Alpaca Sports - Just for Fun
Swedish musician Andreas Jonsson just released his debut single under the moniker Alpaca Sports and hell yeah this guy knows how to have fun. In making music that is. Totally digging the summery vibe of this song. I'm actually making my second summer mixtape (hope i can post it soon) because of this track! BTW, the cover art for his single is made by the Japanese artist Ray Kimura. Thanks for sending this, Andeas!

POP ETC. - Halfway to Heaven

First time I heard this song I was like "Is this Another Level?" It has 90's all over it and I like it!!!! POP ETC is the same guys from the band The Morning Benders who decided to change their name because, apparently, the word ‘bender’ in the UK and many parts of Europe is a slang term for ‘homosexual' or equivalent of ‘The Morning Fags’ in America. Their official statement says,  We simply cannot go on using a name that is demeaning to the gay community. The reason we are making music is to reach and unite as many different kinds of people as possible, and the idea that our name may be hateful towards anyone makes us sick. How can you not admire these guys? Sending my brotherly love and kisses to Chris Chu! :p

Beta Frontiers - Hondo feat. Becky Ninkovic (You Say Party!)
From 90's now to 80's! I love how music nowadays can sound like it's from a different era and stay current at the same time. Toronto-based Beta Frontiers knows exactly how to do it. Their debut EP '....' will be released April 7.

ANOTHER NEW MUSIC: Ekki Múkk by Sigur Rós

/ 27.3.12 /

Lots of new music today and I think this is one of my faves so far. Sigur Rós is back from their hiatus with this ethereal song Ekki Múkk (no idea what it means) and gad, they sound recharged!

NEW MUSIC: Bloody Mary (Nerve Endings) by Silversun Pickups

/ 26.3.12 /

Just received the new track from Silversun Pickups! Bloody Mary (Nerve Endings) is off of their upcoming album Neck of the Woods out May 8. Lead singer/guitarist Brian Aubert told Spin magazine that the songs sound "like a horror movie." Well this lead track is rather wholesome than scary and a lil less dark than their 2009 release Swoon. But let's see what this new album could offer. Love the song. How bout you?:p

MUST LISTEN: Need Your Love by The Temper Trap

/ 23.3.12 /
Dont expect a Sweet Deposition from The Temper Trap's new single Need Your Love. But if you're into epic rock songs which you can sing with thousands of people in an arena, then this one's your new anthem. I liked it. Surprisingly. I think i will revisit their Conditions album before their self-titled follow up to be released this year.

You make me blurry...so blurry inside

This new Of Montreal song is probably one of their best works and I've been listening to it since I got it from my email last week. I never thought the guys from Of Montreal could make such delicate and sensitive music. Feminine Effects is part of the split 7" with Deerhoof titled A Filthy Fifth to be released on Record Store Day by Polyvinyl Record Co.

MUST WATCH: Changing the Rain by The Horrors

/ 16.3.12 /
How about some LSD-infused music video courtesy of The Horrors to cap off the work week.

You can also check out the official website of the band and download masks and screens savers featuring images from the clip directed by Pete Fowler. Just like this! A Faris mask! :p
Faris Hilton!lol

MUST LISTEN: Pipes and Palindromes by Modulogeek

/ /
Check out Pipes and Palindromes, the new EP of Joon Guillen aka Modulogeek. After remixing Outerhope’s The Man with the Pipes, he got so inspired and wrote some tunes about it. The result is a 5-track EP which shows Joon's melancholic side.

You can also check Modulogeek's Transition EP and my interview of him here

RIP Karl Roy

Photography by Tom Epperson

When I read the news about the passing of the great artist/musician Karl Roy this morning, it brought me back in time when me and my college friends went to gigs and concerts where Kapatid was part of the line-up. It was the time when all we cared about was passing our Comm Theory subject and how to get home safe after a booze fest night. Karl Roy's music was our soundtrack. Maraming salamat, Karl Roy.

This is one of my fave songs from Kapatid

and this one's from P.O.T.

And upon watching this interview by Rogue Magazine, yun na naiyak na ako :(
