Tori Amos and Santigold Sing About Imelda Marcos

/ 12.2.10 /

It's amazing how Imelda Marcos sparks inspiration for two foreign musicians to make a concept album about the former first lady's life. Here Lies Love is a collaboration between David Byrne and Fatboy Slim along with other guest vocalists and boy are they the coolest? Tori Amos, Florence Welch(Florence + the Machine), Sia, St. Vincent, Cyndi Lauper, and Santigold lent their distinct vocals singing Imelda's colorful life. How cool is that?!

David Byrne explains in his blog what led him create this album about Imelda:
“The story I am interested in is about asking what drives a powerful person—what makes them tick? How do they make and then remake themselves? I thought to myself, wouldn’t it be great if—as this piece would be principally composed of clubby dance music—one could experience it in a club setting? Could one bring a ‘story’ and a kind of theater to the disco? Was that possible? If so, wouldn’t that be amazing!”
The album is out on April 6th in doubleCD set with a DVD and 100-page book Here's a sample track from the album
