COOLNESS: Google Pays Tribute to Les Paul

/ 9.6.11 /

I opened the Google site today and they have this cool, electric guitar-like going on in their logo. And if you put the cursor on it, it plays a sound/note as if you're strumming a real guitar. I happens that, today is Les Paul's birthday.
The music icon was born on June 9, 1915 and he's one of the reasons why Rock & Roll was born. According to my research (thanks to Wikipedia), Les Paul (pronounced as LESS) was the "pioneer in the development of the solid-body electric guitar which "made the sound of rock and roll possible". He is credited with many recording innovations. Although he was not the first to use the technique, his early experiments with overdubbing (also known as sound on sound), delay effects such as tape delay, phasing effects and multitrack recording were among the first to attract widespread attention."

The "solid-body electric guitar" isalso known as Gibson Les Paul which most of the musicians now are using to create that distinct rock sound.

Being a music innovator was only a fraction  from his impressive resume. Les Paul was a jazz and country musician who released  several award-winning albums and singles from the mid 40's to the early 60's.
Here's one of Les Paul's famous songs How High The Moon
