Here are some photos from the Philippine Art Fair and Binondo Chinese New Year. Wag maging dayuhan sa sariling art scene :p
so the art fair. I was overwhelmed with all the local talents that was showcased during the art fair. It was my first time and man I was in awe.
I was with a good friend blogger extraordinaire Karl here who was trying to figure out a shoe design out of a sprinkler :p
Usually, fairs or exhibits are done in a gallery or big event tents but this year's art fair turned a mall parking lot into exhibition halls. Ingenious!
Here are some of my favorites from the exhibit. I wish I wrote down the artists though.
After the art fair, I dragged Karl to Binondo or Manila's Chinatown to check the Chinese New Year festivities.
Chinatown wasnt festive when we arrived. It was a bit late thanks to Arnie. No dragon dance in sight! So we decided to visit the new mall at the heart of the Chinatown.
on our way to the mall, we passed by this small street with buildings that kinda looked like those apartment complex in Hong Kong.
These Chinese geishas welcomed us upon entering the mall. No wonder the streets were empty, everyone's here in the mall!
They setup a mini Chinese fair outside the mall and this ginormous red christmas tree greeted us.
obligatory photo with the tree
obligatory photo with the tree looking like a catalog model
and obligatory photo with the tree because she wanted to so f*@k off :p
They had a booth for blurry cheongsams
altar of vegetarian Buddha...
and free rides in Chinese pedicabs
We just had to.
Here's Karl praying for Paris for good fortune
It's the year of the water snake. Thank gad we only saw balloons and not the real ones. #afraid
