MUST WATCH: Should Have by Cloud Nothings

/ 31.1.11 /

If you are into hair and you enjoy eating hair(blech), then this music video might just turn you on. This music video is pretty sick but I couldnt help myself to like it. It's not that I am into deep-throating ponytails. I just find the couple cute and I love how warm and sunny the music video is. Watch the whole music video coz at the end, there's something much worse that could happen.

MUST WATCH/LISTEN: Buy Nothing Day by The Go! Team feat Best Coast

/ 30.1.11 /
This song is so fuuunnn!!! Couldnt help but to bang my head off with this track while writing this post! The Go! Team knows how make a seriously fun music. The kind of music you would want to hear every morning or during roadtrips on summer breaks. Buy Nothing Day is part of the band's upcoming third album Rolling Blackouts and this time, Bethany Cosetino of Best Coast helped them out on the vocal parts. She has a sunshine in her voice. Now, I can't wait for summer to officially start!

MUST WATCH: I Follow Rivers by Lykke Li

/ 28.1.11 /
Lykke Li is definitely back with a more powerful sound in her new album, Wounded Rhymes, coming out in few months and I cant wait to hear the rest of it. Get Some was kind of out of control for Li but her second single is totally a ringer! I Follow Rivers has a nice hook which draws you in and you'll find yourself singing along with it on the second chorus. Watch the icy music video below and might as well check the remix of it ;)

MUST LISTEN: Too Beautiful To Work by The Luyas

/ 27.1.11 /

When I got an email with the subject 'New music from The Luyas,' I thought this band was local. Apparently, The Luyas is a Canadian band who plays experimental music with a dash of indie-pop. Their second album Too Beautiful To Work is due on February and here's their first track, with the same title, out of that. Kind of reminds of Cibo Matto.

BAND CRUSH: Foster The People

/ 22.1.11 /

I know, I know. Electro-pop is so 2008 but I couldn't help myself from making a blog entry about Foster The People. They will be releasing a three-track EP this month including their summer 2010 hit Pumped Up Kicks. I managed to find a streaming of the other two songs which is already circulating the blogosphere. The first one is Helena Beat, another surefire electro-pop anthem which sounds like Passion Pit and Empire of the Sun.  Then there's Houdini which is also a fun song with a summery feel going on. I'm looking forward for a full length album this year and hope the songs are as fun as their earlier tracks. Enjoy!

NEW MUSIC: Set Fire To The Rain & Lovesong (The Cure cover) by Adele

/ 21.1.11 /

I dunno why every time I see Adele I think of Mich Dulce. Probably they are both pretty and talented. Anyway, Adele's sophomore album 21 will be out three days from now and I've got two new tracks for you to get even more excited. When I heard her carrier single Rolling In The Deep, I was kind of disappointed or I was just expecting too much. Her second single, Set Fire to the Rain is an awesome ballad that builds up your emotion until its final note.

Set Fire to the Rain

And as a bonus, I also posted another amazing track from Adele's 21 album. This time, it's a cover of The Cure's classic Lovesong. The 311 version was my favorite cover of this song but during these rainy days, Adele's version is more appropriate.

Lovesong (The Cure cover)

MUST LISTEN: Mine is Yours (Passion Pit Remix) by Cold War Kids

/ /

Thank goodness Passion Pit remix this song. Mine is Yours is one of the songs from Cold War Kids' new album with same title that never really caught my attention until now. The album version could pass as Kings of Leon song and that is not a compliment. The end result is a synthesized jam with an instant electro pop charm.

MONDAY Magazine ♥ RONAC Art Center

/ 20.1.11 /
This is probably one of my favorite fashion + architecture editorials of Monday Magazine. We shot this at the RONAC Art Center in San Juan. This particular editorial was risky to produce.I was nervous when we were shooting coz I thought the styling was a bit edgy for Monday's aesthetic but I trusted RCXY and it turned out fantastic. Awesome job guys! This can be found on Monday Magazine's Mediavore issue January-February 2011. Do you wanna know what Mediavore is and if you're one of them? Buy a copy now and you'll never consume media the same way again.

MUST WATCH: Don't Look Back by She & Him

/ /

Fine! I'm convinced that Zooey Deschanel is the cutest thing in the indie-verese. Thanks to their new music video, she's finally my number one crush after Bett Ditto. However, i really can't stand her singing voice.

MUST LISTEN: Fall Hard by Shout Out Louds

/ /
I dont know if I am way too late to post this or what but this song is currently the most played track in my iTunes. Fall Hard is from Shout Out Louds' third album Walls released February of last year. I can't believe I skipped this album last year and now I'm catching up. So far, this is the standout track. Take a listen and tell if you liked it or what. You can also find the Passion Pit remix of the song which is kind of blah.

Fall Hard (Passion Pit Remix)

MUST WATCH: Breaker, Breaker by Peter, Bjorn & John

/ /
Peter, Bjorn and John is back with a track that will capture your ears with less than two minutes. Breaker, Breaker is part of their upcoming album Gimme Some out on March 28. It's aggressive, straight to the point and short. Check out the video below...

You can legally download Breaker, Breaker here.

MUST LISTEN: Killin' the Vibe by Ducktails feat. Panda Bear (Noah Lennox of Animal Collective)

/ 14.1.11 /
This song is just plain mesmerizing! Noah Lennox (Animal Collective's Panda Bear) collaborates with Ducktails (Real Estate’s Matthew Mondanile) on this alternate bonus track that's included in Ducktails III: Arcade Dynamics. I Just couldn't distinguish the original from the alternate version.

MUST WATCH: What You Know by Two Door Cinema Club

/ /

I was having a rough day until I saw this new music video from Two Door Cinema Club. What You Know doesn't have the most danceable lyrics and beat but it seems like it works for the girls on the video. So instead of sulking the whole night, i just watched this music video over and over until I memorized the choreography. Watch the video and try it yourself.

HERE'S THE PART 1

STATUS Magazine x Adidas = The Face Hunter in Manila!

/ 11.1.11 /
After 40 years, I finally made a post about my Face Hunter experience when Yvan Rodic visited the Philippines for a book signing at the Fully Booked, Bonifacio High Street last December 29, 2010. I dragged my friend to the event so we can devirginize her new Lumix camera. We got there pretty late and we didnt catch Yvan's talk. The place was packed with beautiful people. Everyone's dressed up. When we arrived, Yvan was starting to sign the books. There was a long line of 'fans' waiting for their books to be signed.
The line wasn't that long naman but the interview portion was...
So Arnie and I decided to sit first. Arnie started browsing the Facehunter book...
Yvan continued entertaining people...
Then...
Patience love. Not our turn yet. While waiting, you could see people doing more than just browsing in Fully Booked...
After 48 years...
Arnie finished the book in no time so she looked for something else to do while Yvan was taking his time chatting with people.
After 10 CDs...
YES! Finally!
We chatted for a while. I can see his swollen and tired right hand while writing his dedication. Yvan was nice and civil even though he's exhausted. After he signed the book we had our photos taken.
I gave Yvan a copy of Monday Magazine and I signed it too so quits lang kami...
Here's what he wrote...
His favorite Filipino word was...

Yes, I am a Twitterwhore!

The Whitest Boy Alive in Manila!

/ /
No I am not talking about the late Redford White.
The guys behind the successful Kings of Convenience tour last year, Intercept! along with Kindassault is bringing in The Whitest Boy Alive in Manila on March 12, 2011!
I guess i'll be watching these guys twice this year coz they will be also performing with MGMT in Singapore on March 24. The Whitest Boy Alive is a side project of Erlend Øye which is the other half of Kings of Convenience. They released their debut album Dreams in 2006 with the single Burning which you can stream below.

My favorite song in that album is Golden Cage especially the Fred Falke Remix...

In 2009, TWBA released their sophomore album Rules and the carrier single 1517 was part of the OST of the video-game FIFA 10.

I will be posting the ticketing and other info about the gig soon and I might throw in free tickets. So, keep your eyes and ears open.

MUST WATCH: We Got More by Eskmo

/ 8.1.11 /

Remember the scene in the movie Inception when Leonaro di Caprio is explaining the concept of the "dream" to Juno on the streets "folding" streets of Paris...

Director Cyriak Harris took that concept in the streets of New York and created this Inception-esque music video for Eskmo, a San Francisco based electronic act.
