BAND CRUSH: Library Kids

Before you list down your top/best/favorite whatever of 2012, you might want to check out this duo whose brand of indie folk might put them on your number one spot. Barely a month old project, Library Kids' dreamy take on folk music can be compared to Bon Iver, Fleet Foxes or even Sigur Rós with pop sensibilities. MUST WATCH: Hinnom, TX by Bon Iver

Just Vernon has a weird-looking, hairy pair of nips. Bon Iver will be releasing a deluxe edition of the self-titled sophomore album. But instead of including new tracks/remixes, they will make a video for each track. That includes this clip of the song Hinnom, TX. I SO LOVE THIS MUSIC VIDEO! There's nothing going on actually on this video just some driver's point-of-view while driving into a sunset. I dont know why but I am saddest when on the road during sunset.

Tuesday Not so Morning Music Bonanza!

You can laugh at the title of this post all you want but I assure you that the following bands you're about hear are such winners! (or your money back)

I will start with this awesome band from Brooklyn called Fort Lean. I am not really good at categorizing a band in which genre it falls in to but Fort Lean's music is somehow different from the usual sound Brooklyn bands produce. Their music is a mixture of vintage rock & roll, grunge, melodic indie-rockish music with some surf rock edge. It may look complicated but their music says otherwise. They have a self-titled EP out which you can download for free on their Bandcamp site but you can stream it right here


They just released a music video for their song Beach Holiday (my fav track from the EP)

Another must listen band is Juveniles. They are hairy. They are French and they make amazing new wave indie-pop sound with the right amount of synths. They just signed in to Kitsune few months ago and you can stream their first EP We Are Young below...

MUST LISTEN: Fall Creek Boys Choir by James Blake & Bon Iver

Jameson Ivlake? Blakeivler? James Bon? Whatever names you call this bromance, it's still a match made in heaven. Don't get me wrong, James Blake and Bon Iver are not gays (or at least that's what we know) it's just that Fall Creek Boys Choir is a perfect collaboration piece. Walang sapawan, the arrangements are not forced and their musical styles are well-weaved to each other. Let's enjoy Fall Creek Boys Choir and hope we get to hear more collabs from this supercouple in the future.

Fall Creek Boys Choir will be available on iTunes August 29.

MUST WATCH: Holocene by Bon Iver

If Iceland used this as their tourism ad, I swear people would book a plane ticket after watching it. I've never seen Iceland this beautiful! No wonder National Geographic premiered Bon Iver's Holocene music video on the channel.

MUST LISTEN COVERS: Bon Iver, Mumford & Sons and Patience Dear Juggernaut

It's Tuesday here in Manila and I'm starting my day with three of my favorite cover songs of the moment. Let's start with Wincy Ong's solo project Patience Dear Juggernaut covering The Cardigans' Heartbreaker with a little help from his girlfriend Cj de Silva.


Not really a fan of Mumford & Sons but their rendition of The National's England made me look at their music catalogue and quite enjoyed some of their tracks.

And I'm going to end this post with Bon Iver covering Bonnie Raitt's I Cant Make You Love Me. One word: PHENOMENAL. This is probably my favorite cover song that Bon Iver did. It's heart wrenching, totally emotional and Justin Vernon's voice is just beyond!

NAY OR YAY? Lost in the World by Bon Iver & Kanye West

When I heard about the news that Bon Iver will collaborate with Kanye West, my first reaction wast...there. Just the same as yours. Well I am not being snob or something. It's just that I couldn't imagine the sound when these two artists with opposing genre put together in a song. Monster (Kanye West feat. Jay-z, Bon Iver, etc.) was released and I could barely hear Bon Iver in the song. I didnt know that there's another track that from the two. Then came the Lost in the World song. To my surprise, i kind of liked it. Bon Iver didnt do much effort on this one. Kanye just used a sample of Bon Iver's song Woods from Blood Bank which is my favorite track from that EP. Good thing Kanye West didnt murder Bon Iver's song just like what Jason Derulo did to Imogen Heap's Hide & Seek.

Actually, Bon Iver's Woods is kind of like Imogen's Hide & Seek. It's intrumental with that robot sounding effect ala Cher in Believe. Here is Woods the original version.
