The best thing I heard this morning! Such a shame I found out about this from a foreign blog. The last time I saw Moscow Olympicswas when they opened for The Radio Dept a few months ago and caught their last song. Moscow Olympics is one of the Filipino bands that creates such amazing shoegaze music. They are back with a rehash version of last year's Keeping the Avenues Open and hopefully a new album soon (I will feature it here first before the world I promise ). I wont but I am hooked! Kaboom! 2 Broke Girls is only sitcom right now that makes me L.O.L. every episode. I just love how they make fun of hipsters. I know a lot of you guys love this show too so here's the opening song from the show. It's a song by Peter, Bjorn and John called Second Chance from their album Gimme Some.
The only time i open my Facebook is when I post a link of a blogpost or to check if there are interesting music related posts in my timeline. Thank God I opened my Facebook today! If not, i would have not discovered this amazing band. Serendipity? Maybe Some Gorgeous Accident! Ok, so that's another failed attempt for a witty intro! haha
Check out this California-based Filipino band called Some Gorgeous Accident. They play gorgeous shoegaze/dream-pop music that reminds me of The Autocollants and Blueboy. The band's first release was cassette EP entitled Winter in Watercolor under the Italian label Best Kept Secret (in all fairness, they hid them well ah.)
Now they are back with Imaginary Lines- a 6-track EP under the local label Number Line Records. With this new EP, the band maximized their shoegaze prowess and experimented with some electronic elements which gave it a bit more "now" sound. They came from Brooklyn and will be releasing a single called Dreamers which you can download for free below. I'm not surprised that Neon Gold has been promoting this song heavily because it's that good! It's gonna be one of my top pics for the best song of the year and I cant wait to hear more greatness from Savoir Adore.
Kababayan Chaz Bundick aka Toro y Moi will be releasing another EP this Spetember entitled Freaking Out. Bundick's must have a lot of songs in his reservoir. One of the cuts from the EP is Saturday Love originally sung by of Alexander O'Neal & Cherelle.

Check out this stripped-down version of Up dharma Down's Christmas single Hiwaga which was part of an indie film called Mayohan. I wasn't able to watch that movie but this version of Hiwaga is superb. The original version is part of UdD's debut album Fragmented. I don't expect my readers to agree in eveything I post on this blog. But this one is an exception and I want everyone who's reading this right now to agree with me that Tip of Your Tongue is one of the best songs I've featured.
If you're a big fan of Beach House, it's time to hit the stop button and make some room for another act that does justice to the genre that not everybody can pull off with class- dream pop. The culprit of this icy sound is Mauro Remiddi aka Porcelain Raft who managed to put all these layers of sounds and vocals by himself. He has already released 3 EPs but Tip of Your Tongue is his very first single that will be released this November under Acephale.
I've been listening to Porcelain Raft for quite some time now and Tip of Your Tongue (or Teeeep of your tongue as he sang it) is a good song to introduce him to a wider audience. Its hypnotic sound and catchy chorus can make a first time listener an instant fan.

I have enjoyed Cut Copy's past two albums that are filled with synthpop, club-worthy anthems and this new song is somewhat promising. Where I'm Going might appear in their forthcoming untitled album third album to be released January of 2011. It doesn't sound like any other of their previous tracks and this could be the new direction of the new album. Where I'm Going is leaning towards to psychedelia rather than 80's disco club nostalgia which they usually sound. You can download this new track below.
Like a real stalker, I was searching for some orgasmic info about this new band Minks and neither Pitchfor nor Stereogam helped me out. I've been addicted to their songs Kusmi and Funeral Song which are the only available reference about Minks out there. Their sound is a mixture of everything shoegaze, dark wave, eerie synth and all but they aren't afraid to put a little bit of spring time in their gloominess.
I particularly love Funeral Song. I cannot decipher what are they singing about and So long summer time/not coming back is the only line that I can clearly understand. But nevertheless, It's a perfect soundtrack to end this scotching hot summer days and welcome the rainy season with some shoegaze action.

Over the weekend, me and my friends went to Batangas for a much needed break to condition ourselves for the upcoming deadlines and tons of workload waiting for us in our desks. Not for me though, I was still following up some pull-out requests and photo shoot stuff so basically I was still working.
To the main reason for this post, I just discovered this song from the long list of my newly downloaded music and fell in love with it instantly. The Kiss is totally unexpected for me. When the intro hit my eardrums, i thought it was just a regular dreamy, shoegazerish track which I usually love only because of their style and melody. But with this song, it's kind of different. The slow build up of multi-layered instrumentation is a total cliffhanger. Then the dreamy vocals started to sing about a kiss, someone else's eyes and all this sweet stuff which put me into a cheezy mode and I started imagining singing this song to someone. Going back, I thought it'll just stay that way- that calming, endearing state where all stoned people would love to go. But as the song goes, it unfolds into a more head-nodding track leaving me with a slight hangover. After the first listen, I had it on repeat and it became the official soundtrack of my weekend.
In the LabradorRecords site, Pallers' sound is described as a "dance music for the lazy, the blazers and

I dont know what's so sexy about living in America but one thing is certain, Dom's music is a sure fire summer fave. Hailed from Massachusetts, this trio is getting a lot of blog-love even before they released their debut EP Sun Bronzed Greek Gods. I heard most of the tracks from the EP and it seemed that Dom had fun tinkering their synthesizer. You may define their music as "chill wave" and can be compared with Neon Indian and Washed Out. But what sets them apart from these bands is their shoegaze-tinged sound that never runs out of catchy melodies.
The track that made Dom my recent band crush is Living in America. If you enjoyed MGMT's Electric Feel, Living in America has that same vibe but perkier. You'll also love the track Burn Bridges if you're into lo-fi music.
It seems like yesterday when Stars released their In Our Bedroom After The War and it was like 2007. But I didn't actually missed this band because almost everyday, I would loop Midnight Coward and Calendar Girl at least 5 times...each.
The Five Ghosts is Star's 5th studio album to be released at the end of June and you can hear the first track out of that album below entitled Fixed.
